Surveys Required on All Sales

Because times are tough, we need to get maximum value out of our advertising. To do this we need information. Surveys provide this info.

Every sales invoice must be accompanied by a retail demographics survey. These surveys are located at the POS station and are essential in determining how best to spend our advertising budget.

SALESPERSON FILLS OUT THE SURVEY

In the past, we had the customer fill out these surveys. From now on, the salesperson will fill out the survey for the customer.

  • Age range
  • Gender
  • First purchase Y/N
  • Engagement ring Y/N
  • Referred Y/N

Google/Internet section

IF THIS IS A NEW CUSTOMER/FIRST PURCHASE, ASK THE GOOGLE SEARCH INTERNET QUESTION.

IF IT’S A REPEAT PURCHASE, DO NOT ASK THE GOOGLE SEARCH/INTERNET QUESTION.

INTERNET SOURCE

When a first purchase customer tells you they found out about us on the internet, ask them if they’ve seen our TV ads. If they’ve seen the ads, they may still say they searched us on Google, but that isn’t really how they FIRST found out about us. If they saw the TV ad and then searched “Leo Hamel” they might say Internet but it’s really TV.

Then write down what they came in looking for, as that reveals the keywords they searched on the internet to find us. If they came in to look at Rolex, write “Rolex” in “What did they come in looking for?”.

LAYAWAYS

Surveys are also required on the first deposit or layaway invoice for any first purchase, because the customer will only remember how they first found out about us on the first visit, not weeks or months later when the sale is finalized. Marketing will keep these surveys on file until the sale is final.

On the final payment of a layaway or AR sale, the salesperson will fill out and attach another survey just like the first one. This slip is filled out by the salesperson and it shows again what the customer marked as the reason for the initial purchase. This helps Marketing to properly stat that sale to the correct advertising campaign. Marketing will then pull their copy of the survey that was done for the initial deposit or layaway invoice and match it to the final survey.

If your sales, deposit or layaway invoice does not have a completed survey attached than the sale is not considered to be complete and 25% of the commission will be forfeited for that sale, as per the policy, “A Completed Sale.”

Marketing will compare the survey to the information in the computer and to the final survey if there is one, to make sure they all agree. If there is no survey attached to an invoice or if it does not agree with what’s in the computer, then Marketing will send an email to Accounting, and copy the Sales Manager and the salesperson, that the 25% commission is forfeited for that sale.

RETURNS OR EXCHANGES

No surveys are required for returns or exchanges.

THIS IS A PAIN TO DO

You might be thinking that this is a pain to do and that we should just be happy that you made a sale. We are happy that you made a sale, and we want you to continue to make more sales. The information you collect from these surveys is vital to allocating money to the most effective advertising to retail customers so that we can get more people to come in for you to sell. It is not to make your job harder or arbitrarily give you more paperwork to do. It’s going to get more customers for you and make you more money, so please make sure you get the right sales source for every sale.
