Leo Hamel Fine Jewelers Policy Letter

Show Buys to Retail

From this point on Wholesale is to never wholesale anything (except things considered scrap) without showing it twice to the COO. If a COO is “on the ball,” she can connect items in Wholesale with sales in Retail. The first time to show the items is the day they are bought so that Retail has the 30-day hold period to find a buyer. The second time is just before it is offered for sale to another dealer. This must happen every time.

Show Silver/Antiques to Sales

The store often purchases silver and other antique items that are good for retail, or could have a premium value compared to what a dealer will offer. All silver must be reviewed before selling to Mike Stabile or any dealer, each week.

The silver and other antiques must be reviewed by two LHFJ employees the day it is to be shown to a dealer. Ideally the COO (Maggie) and Leo should look through silver for sale for the week. A salesperson or two salespeople or the Inventory Manager are best options if neither Maggie nor Leo are available as they may have customers for certain items. No silver/antiques can be sold until this review is completed.

For normal Thursday sales to Mike Stabile, the silver will be laid out on the conference room table by 1pm, allowing one hour for review before Stabile arrives at 2pm.

For the occasional silver items that are not sold to Stabile, they must be presented to Maggie or Leo and a salesperson for review before selling to a dealer.
