From now on, all invoices will be written for the person who is making the payment for the merchandise if the person is paying with anything other than cash.
This includes payment by:
If Jane is already in the system, and John pays for her engagement ring, the invoice is written for John.
If James says he’s buying a watch on behalf of George, who can’t come in because he’s in the hospital, and George will be the owner of the watch, the invoice is written for James.
If Diane says she’s buying a ring for a wedding gift and wants the invoice made out in the name of the bride, the invoice is written for Diane.
If Doug’s Mom comes in with Doug and buys a watch for Doug, the invoice is written for Doug’s Mom.
All invoices must have a complete address and a phone number for the person who is making the payment for the merchandise unless paid in cash. No other exceptions.
It doesn’t matter if you don’t think they will ever come back to buy from us again. If the person who is paying won’t provide an address and phone number, they can’t buy anything from us.
If it is a cash transaction of over $10,000 you must follow the policy about filing the form 8300. The cash transaction cannot be split in two to avoid filing 8300.
