Runs to Mystic Coin

We usually go on a weekly run to Mystic Coin in order to sell coins and scrap metals that were purchased the week before. It’s often a large amount of value being carried, and it’s important to take every possible precaution in order to be as safe as possible. Criminals exist that may try to track your patterns and rob you on the way there.

The weekly scrap/coins will be locked in yellow buy bags by the estate buying manager or COO to be sent up to Jeff at Mystic. Jeff will have a key to unlock the buy bag in his office.

  • If someone runs into your car, do not get out of your car. Call the police and wait for the police to arrive. Do not roll down your window; tell the other person through the window that you are waiting for the police. Staged accidents are a common tactic to grab merchandise and drive away.
  • Watch for any cars that are following you. If you think a car is following you, make a sudden turn and see if they follow. If they do, make a U-turn and see if they follow. You can pull over on the freeway; anyone who pulls over behind you is a threat.
  • If anyone is following you, drive to the nearest police station. Save police station locations in your phone so you don’t panic. Further south it is: Western Division Address: 5215 Gaines St, San Diego, CA 92110 Phone Number: 619-692-4800.
  • There is also a nearby fire station: San Diego Fire-Rescue Department Station 28, 3880 Kearny Villa Rd · (619) 533-4300.
  • When you arrive at Mystic, watch who is around—on foot or in cars—and stay off your phone. When possible, don’t park next to anyone. If someone is parked next to you when leaving, do not get into your car until they leave; go back inside Mystic and wait.
  • When you drive away, vary your return route; there are several ways out of that neighborhood. If someone is following you, do not return to the store. Go to a police station or a busy area, park and wait for them to leave. If they don’t leave, call the police and/or call the store so we can send someone to meet you. Take photos of the suspicious vehicle.
  • If you are robbed, hand over the merchandise without resistance. The merchandise can be replaced. Without jeopardizing your safety, try to note the license plate of the criminal’s car and, if possible, take a photo as they drive away.

Please take this seriously. There are bad people out there who will do anything for money. Be safe and remain aware of your surroundings at all times.
