As a free service, the Company pays Logistics to pick up lunch orders for our employees. The lunch menu is emailed the day before, and employees who want to participate email their orders back by 11:30am. The food dishes are placed in the break room as soon as they arrive and labeled with the name of the person who ordered it. The cost of each employee’s lunch is calculated by Logistics, passed to the Payroll department, and deducted from that employee’s pay as a draw from that week’s check.
On special occasions, the Company may provide lunch for all employees; in which case there is no deduction taken from any employee’s pay.
The Company keeps a list of restaurants that offer a variety of dishes at moderate prices and are within reasonable driving distance of the store. Employees are encouraged to suggest new lunch places to add to the list. Logistics coordinates asking various employees for their lunch picks, choosing restaurants based on the errands of the day, or ordering for delivery when picking up is not feasible.
If any employees wish to order from another place than the restaurant pick of the day, the food must be delivered here by the restaurant/delivery service, or an employee must go to pick it up. The employee who goes to pick up the food must start counting his 30-minute lunch break from the time he leaves to get the food, and must get the food, come back, and eat the food all within the 30-minute lunch break.
It will happen sometimes that a restaurant may not prepare your food to your specifications or even leave off ordered items. When there is a problem with your order, it is up to you to contact the restaurant to get a credit or replacement. Logistics does not do that for you. You could also decide to just let it go, and order different food via a personal account with a food delivery service or restaurant that delivers.
The Company’s (and Logistics’) responsibility for the lunch food order ends with its delivery.
If the restaurant agrees to credit back the company credit card, send Accounting an email stating which restaurant and how much credit is expected. Once the credit is actually received, Accounting will credit your paycheck with the refund. Please refrain from pelting Accounting with emails asking when you will receive your $6 sandwich credit.
Employees who are late to return from a lunch break or any 15-minute break will earn one-half (1/2) incident.
