Any time a customer wants a modification made to a William Henry knife (such as change a lanyard to a pocket clip or vice versa), there WILL be a charge from William Henry to us for $15. We will mark this up to $30 to cover our cost to ship to WH. The customer should not be told that they are paying for the shipping to WH. They are just paying a flat $30 for the modification. If they want it rushed, there’s an extra $10 fee.
We must always send the item to WH by Registered Mail so that our 3rd party insurance carrier will cover the insurance, or by Express Mail if the customer pays the $10 for the rush option.
Only repairs are under warranty at no charge, as per their policy.
Charlie (our rep who was recently here) has also been notified of this.
Before you promise a change to a customer or ask Repair to ship it, call WH or Charlie to make sure the model can be modified. Not all of them can be done due to their design.
Also, please call first if the customer asks for any other modifications to their other products (pen, money clip, or divot tool) to verify if the change can be done before promising it to the customer. Find out how much will be charged and then add $15 to that to cover our shipping costs. When you call WH to ask about modifications, a good person to talk to is Bill. He’s our main contact in their repair department.
If a customer is somehow not charged for a WH modification, then the salesperson will be responsible to pay for it out of commissions.
