When to Mail Flyers and Special Event Promo

When promoting a special event via mail, one must see that it arrives just before the sale date. For a one day sale, it must arrive 1-2 days beforehand. For a 2-3 day event, again, 1-2 days beforehand is OK, but the best time would be 1 day before or on the first day.

Reason: If a mail piece arrives 3-6 days before an event, it allows too much time for the person to forget.

When using first class mail, it usually arrives (locally) within 1-2 days. Most of the mail will arrive the next day if stamped. (It is possible that metered or pre-printed first class is handled differently; I am looking into this).

Bulk mail can take 2 to who knows how many days. I do not recommend bulk mail for sales events, as its delivery is unpredictable, AND it is shoved together with all other bulk mail.

So, bulk mail is OK for non date/sale important mail (Newsletters), but is not OK for date important mail. First class should be used to get there just before or at the beginning of a sale/date event, and it should not be mailed 3-6 days before. On local mail, sending first class 1-2 days before is perfect.
