Verify Buys over $5000

There have been numerous occasions where a buy check was issued to a customer and we realized after they had left that the check was written for far too much because the coins were fake or the diamond was not graded correctly, etc. In order to protect the buyer and the store form costly mistakes, every check written for over $5,000 needs to be verified before the buy is completed.

Any buy or pawn made in any buying location for over $5,000 needs to be double-checked and signed off by the Estate Buying Manager or another buyer before the check is issued to the customer. If you are working alone in one of the satellite offices then phone the Estate Buying Manager for approval.

This needs to be done for the following reasons:

  1. To verify that the buy amount is profitable.
  2. To make sure that the items are not fake.
  3. To ensure that the diamond grading is accurate.
  4. To avoid having to cancel a check after a customer has left the store.

You can have the person who verifies the buy sign their initials on the check stub. No commission will be paid on buys over $5,000 that are not double-checked and signed off by a second person.
