Leo Hamel Policy Letter

Rev1

Transshipping of Watches

Leo Hamel & Company does not transship* watches. With certain brands we have approval to, on occasion, sell a watch to a quality dealer or friend, for a specific customer. This is only done with approval from the President. This is never offered or talked about, as it is not something we want to do. It is something we have approval to do only with certain brands and with great discretion in order to protect the brand, the watch company representative, and our dealership.

Violation of this policy is cause for termination, as loosing our dealership could cost the company hundreds of thousands in sales. More importantly, it could cost us our reputation which we have worked hard to create.

* Transshipping:

  1. To transfer something from one vessel or conveyance to another for onward shipment.
  2. In retail this would be using ones status as an authorized vendor to acquire product from the factory, and then sell it wholesale to a non-authorized dealer for their use.

Example: We, as an authorized Hublot retailer, acquire a watch from the Hublot vendor and then sell it wholesale to a different retailer that is itself not an authorized Hublot dealer. They would not otherwise be able to get such a watch at cost. This other store is now able to sell the new Hublot watch even though they are not an authorized dealer. This is baypassing the Vendor’s proper channels of distribution.
