Trade-ins of Merchandise We Sold Previously

When taking in trade-ins of merchandise purchased here previously, ALWAYS, repeat ALWAYS, look up what the person actually paid for the item.

NEVER, repeat NEVER:

  1. Take their word (they always, always, always, repeat ALWAYS remember more than they actually paid.
  2. Rely on your own or anyone else’s memory.
  3. Guess what it should have sold for.

ALWAYS:

  1. Ask for their copy of the sales invoice.
  2. Look up the sale on the computer in customer notes.
  3. Or find the actual invoice.

Whether finding the invoice or not, the trade-in value is “What Inventory or the Estate buyer would pay for it in cash today”.
