Leo Hamel Policy Letter

Trade-ins Don’t Go In Newsletter

Trade-in merchandise should NEVER be pictured in the newsletter. A customer sells or trades in an item for $500 and sees it in the flyer for $1000 or $600 or $2500 and can get mad.

Recognizable trade-ins should not be handled this way. This policy requires buyers to check with all sellers to see if they are on CF (Central Files or Mailing List.) This should be done anyway. A seller of a 3 gram gold chain isn’t a future customer. A seller of a Patek, Rolex, 1.00 ct diamond, etc., is and can be added to CF.

Consignments are okay to picture unless there is a huge difference between what we are paying the customer and what we are selling it for.

But don’t picture specific estate pieces, rings, necklaces, etc. that come from trade-ins!
