Tracking Advertising through Sales Source

We spend a lot of money on advertising, and it is important for us to know which mediums work.  For salespeople, advertising directly affects the money you make. The more effective our advertising is, the more customers are brought in for YOU to sell. To track what advertising is getting us results, the salespeople will select data in the Sales Source field in Business Mind while entering a sales invoice.

Sales Source is to be tracked in the following way.

  1. At the point of sale ask the customer, “What brought you in today?”
    1. If they cannot remember, show them a list of the current mediums in which we advertise.
  2. Use the pull-down menu under Sales Source in Business Mind to select the appropriate form of advertising:
  3. If you are ringing up a return use the Sales Source marked “Return of Merchandise,” do not track it under anything else.
  4. If the Sales Source is Referral, type the name of the customer by whom they were referred in the Customer Ref# field in the lower left-hand corner:

Sale Sources will be checked on a weekly basis for accuracy. Any discrepancies will result in a loss of commission for that sale. This may seem harsh but if we have incorrect data the store wastes money by spending it on the wrong kinds of advertising.

What happens in the event that the customer will not tell you what brought them in today?  This is a very rare occurrence but, if it does happen then email the Director of Marketing immediately with the name of that customer.
