There are many different types of positions throughout the company that require many different tools and equipment to get the job done. A goldsmith may have various hand tools and someone in Marketing may have software. The company should have all the tools and equipment necessary for one to do his job.
If you find you are missing something in order to get your job done, the solution is to write a CSW & PO (requisition forms) in order to obtain what is needed. It is not expected nor approved for you to have to acquire these, or bring something that you personally own.
All the tools and equipment we have in the company belong to the company. We do not want to mix up what are ours and yours. Therefore it policy that you use the tools and equipment we have and you can not bring in your own. This helps to keep things simple. If something breaks, it’s the companies and the company will replace it if needed. If you bring something in which is yours, in violation of this policy, and it breaks or becomes damaged, we are not responsible for it.
Within two weeks of the issuance of this policy all items which belong to you, which you need to get your job done, should be requisitioned for so it may either be purchased from you or replaced. After two weeks it will be assumed that the company owns all the tools and equipment and you have taken your personal items home.
The purpose is to A. lessen the confusion as to “who owns what” and “who owes who” for broken or damaged tools and, B. Get you the tools you need to do a better and more efficient job.
