Most of you are not responsible for stamps, but you should know this in case you are ever asked to buy stamps.
All Christmas mailings to customers are to be posted with the NICEST, large CHRISTMAS stamps we can find. Do not use the small ones on a strip. Use the brightest, largest, prettiest ones the post office has. If we have to special order them, then do so.
Use religious themed stamps at Christmas and Easter. There is usually a “Madonna and Child” stamp at Christmas and that should be our first choice (and always get the biggest and brightest of those if there is a choice). For those of you who are not religious and don’t get the significance of the holiday, well, you just need to get over it!
Here is the significance (for our customers) and the logic (for our bottom line and PR):
Christmas is the second most significant national holiday for the majority religion in the USA (Easter being the most significant.) But Christmas is the largest income holiday. Christmas gets its name from Christ and his birth. So let’s use stamps that celebrate the holiday to recognize his birth. Let’s ally ourselves with the majority of the population by using stamps that recognize their significant holiday.
Even when it isn’t Christmas, the rule still applies. Always use large, bright, unusual stamps for letters out to customers.
I despise bulk mailings with bulk stamps. Whenever possible we should do first class mailings.
