Serial Numbers and Years of High End Watches

Regarding companies that we can date (IWC or Patek Philippe for example) look up the serial number in big books, and put the serial number on the watch tag and in the computer – always in the computer.

Concerning high end watches (especially IWC and Patek Philippe) the year should be looked up at repair / inventory time as customers frequently ask, “What year is it?” and sales people must rush around, get it opened and look it up.

Put year data in the computer and on the tag. Actually, year is more important on the tag than is the serial number – but the number should always be in the computer.
