We sell inventory on eBay for several reasons, including creating needed cash flow from outside sources and moving old inventory from the showroom.
We may also sell inventory on eBay that we have determined will sell for as much as or more than it would sell out in the showroom. This may include any pre-owned watches, designer estate jewelry, and vintage or antique jewelry that have not sold in the showroom after three months.
We sometimes sell older inventory items for no profit or even at a loss. This is only acceptable when moving year-old stock that we have not been able to sell in the store or to dealers. Selling these old items frees up money to buy new things or pay bills.
The Inventory Manager determines what to sell from the showroom inventory, and gives items to the Internet Sales Coordinator with a minimum price that we expect to receive from the auction.
We also sell items on eBay that were bought by our Estate Buyers. These items should never be sold for zero profit or at a loss. We need to make a minimum of $100 profit over what a dealer will pay, to cover the expense of taking pictures, writing descriptions, answering questions, etc. Estate Buyers should only offer items to the Internet Sales Coordinator that have been properly researched as to what a dealer will pay.
Ideally, all auctions should run for 10 days, and start on Thursday evening around 6:00 pm PST so they will close on Sunday at the same time.
We accept Paypal, money orders, cashier’s checks, and bank checks for eBay auction payment. Post Office money orders cannot be cancelled. Cashier’s checks and personal checks can be cancelled and we must wait up to 2 weeks for them to clear before shipping the merchandise. Accounting will make a copy of the check, deposit it, and then call the bank in 1 week to see if it has cleared.
For a non-Post Office money order, call the issuing bank to find out if it can be cancelled. If it can, then it must clear like any other check.
If we are paid by Paypal or with a Post Office money order, or other verified, non-cancelable money order/cashier’s check, ship the item out THAT DAY by the appropriate method (varies for domestic and international shipping, see eBay shipping policy).
