Sales Stats and Store Credit Returns

As soon as an item is returned for a store credit, the sale and the salesperson’s stat and commission will be taken off stats.

The original salesperson loses the stat and the commission from the original sale on the day the store credit is written. When the store credit is used, the new sale is entered for stats like any other new sale.

If the store credit is used that day, there will be a new sale to offset the return. If the credit is not used that day, there will be no sale offsetting the return.

The original salesperson should be given the opportunity to make the new sale so as to regain their stat and commission. However, if for some reason that isn’t possible, the new salesperson will get the entire stat and commission for the new sale. So making a sale to a customer with a store credit, where the credit came from a sale that another salesperson already did, does not mean there is an automatic split on the new sale.

There have been a few times unscrupulous salespeople try to snag these sales from the original salesperson. This should be reported but realize these types don’t last around here.

This should not be a problem if you consider this; if the original salesperson did a good job and really took care of the customer, the customer would want to deal with the same salesperson again. Doing a mediocre job and the customer may not care who they deal with. Doing a poor job could cause the customer to ask to be helped by someone else.
