Occasionally we hold an event known as “the Half-Off Sale” to move inventory, create goodwill with our VIP customers, and create cash flow. We mark down merchandise which has not sold so we can move it and keep our inventory fresh and appealing.
We make significantly less profit when we sell vintage merchandise this way and with new merchandise we may break even or lose money. Therefore, the following rules have been established for the half-off sales.
- ALL SALES ARE FINAL. Customers cannot come back in the next day and return it. The only exception is if the item is defective. In this case the customer should first be offered a repair and if they decline then given a refund.
- TRADE-INS OKAY AT DAY SALES. Now that we are doing the half-off sales during the day, we do have time to accept trade-ins. If we go back to night events, we may not.
- NO RETURNS. A customer may not bring in previously purchased merchandise and return it for money to be used to purchase a half-off item.
- FINANCING OKAY. We now have a lower fee with GE Luxury for 6 months no interest financing so that can be used for sale items. We also have time to process new applications now that the sales are during the day. Other financing is still not allowed, such as 12 months no interest, or Wells Fargo Financing of any length of time.
- ALL SALES AS-IS. Merchandise is sold as-is. Any alteration, sizing, adding links, etc. will be charged at regular rates.
- NO GIFT CARDS EXCEPT VIP/VIP REFERRAL CARDS. All other cards already say they cannot be combined with any other discount, and the half-off prices are discounts.
The above rules must be made known in any promotional pieces done for the event so that the customers are aware of this ahead of time so nobody is disappointed.
