Repair Invoices & Repair Slips

Every repair has a repair slip and a repair invoice. Customers receive a copy of this repair slip when they drop off their items for work. Thus customers should also receive a copy of their repair invoice when they pick up the item which shows the final cost and actual work done. This needs to be done regardless of whether or not there was a charge for the work completed.

When customers purchase retail items they are required to sign the back of the invoice. This must also be done on repair invoices.

An open repair slip shows that we have a customers’ item in our possession, and that the cost of the repair has not yet been collected from the customer. When a repair slip is invoiced it is considered paid for and delivered in the computer system. The computer shows an invoiced repair item as “Completed” and “Sold”. This is clear proof that the customer has picked up the item, and paid for it if not done as a free service. By signing the back of our invoice they are agreeing that they have picked up the item.

This leaves no extra room for customers to try to be sneaky about whether or not they have picked up an item and gives us the evidence in case there is a problem. It has happened that ex-spouses and crack-head kids have tried to pick up items of value without the person who brought in the repair knowing. This signature is MANDATORY.

When the repair work is complete and delivered into the hands of the customer, the repair invoice should always be written, even if the job itself was done at no charge to the customer. It completes the entire cycle.

Invoice EVERY repair slip!
