We always want to reward sales made by giving a stat and a commission. We don’t want to reward things that aren’t sales, however. That would not be a fair exchange.
Watch refinishes do not always qualify as a sale for a salesperson. The rule is, if you sold the watch refinish to the customer, then it is a sale. If YOU sold it to the customer, then it is a sale. Just like any other sale.
It is not a sale for you if the repair department told the customer to get a refinish done, or if the customer came in to get a refinish because there was a discount coupon in the newsletter.
It is not a sale for you just because it is “your customer.” It is a sale if they came in for some other reason, or to get their watch repaired, and you sold them on the idea of getting their watch refinished too.
In this case, in order to alert Treasury to give you the stat and commission, get the invoice Okayed by the Sales Manager. Write on it, “Lisa’s refinish stat” and get it initialed. Then turn in the invoice as usual.
Any refinishes not Okayed for commission will be credited to the repair department only, regardless of whose name is printed on the invoice under “salesperson.”
