Receiving Packages

Whether you’re on the sales floor or in the buy office, if a delivery person comes in to drop off packages (FedEx, UPS, USPS, etc.) and you are with a customer, please call Jonathan, Ian, Cheryl, Nicole, Elliot, Maggie, or Robin to come and accept delivery.

If you are not with a customer and wish to accept delivery, you must follow this standard procedure for receiving/signing for packages:

  1. First, check the addresses on all of the packages and make sure they are addressed to STTC (Nam), SDGL (Elliot), Michel/Micha Mottale, or Leo Hamel Fine Jewelers.
  2. Next, inspect the package and ensure it isn’t damaged or tampered with or doesn’t appear to have been opened and resealed. It’s common for thieves that work for these delivery services to cut open a package, remove the contents, and then tape it closed again.
  3. If the package appears damaged, call Jonathan, Ian, or Cheryl – do not accept delivery.
  4. If anything doesn’t look right, or the box feels empty, open it in front of the delivery person to ensure all contents were received. If the box is empty, refuse delivery and give it back to the delivery person.
  5. Next, count the packages and make sure the number you are receiving is the number you are signing for.
  6. Finally, take the packages and put them in the Shipping Room. If the door is locked, get the key from an Executive, put the items in the room, shut the door, and lock it behind you. If there are employees in the Inventory room or Marketing room, then, of course, you do not have to lock the door behind you.
