Quoting Prices over the Phone

We don’t quote prices over the phone. The reasons why we don’t quote prices over the phone are:

  1. Customers will shop for the cheapest price over the phone and may never come in. They shop around after they get a price from us. The other dealers can then use our own price against us to make a sale to that customer.
  2. They might be checking prices to find out what we sell our watches for because they want to sell theirs! Obviously giving them our sale price will drive their selling price up.
  3. They can’t see the age or condition or features of the watch we’re selling, so even if the price we are quoting is excellent for a reconditioned 1-year old mint condition watch, they won’t know that.
  4. They don’t really know what they want, and we need to talk to them in person to qualify them and find out what watch or diamond will fill their need exactly.

You can send them the newsletter, but be very firm and nice about not quoting prices over the phone. Explain to them that if they are shopping for a price over the phone, they’re doing themselves a disservice by not coming in to see you. Ask them if they would shop for a car over the phone without considering its age or condition! Also, watches and diamonds get sold so quickly that the price can change daily. There are lots of different reasons why a watch or diamond will be higher or lower in price, including higher or lower quality, and they need to come in so you can show them why.

This is EXACTLY what you say:

“We don’t quote prices over the phone, BECAUSE WE HAVE THE LOWEST PRICES AROUND.”
