Policy Checkouts

A checkout is a test to see whether someone knows and can apply a policy.

Whenever a company policy is issued or reissued with changes, it needs to be checked out on all employees to whom it applies and their supervisors all the way up the organization board.

HR will do a checkout on all employees to which the policy applies within 2 business days of the policy coming out. If the policy applies to a small area of the company (10 or less) then they should all be checked out the same day if possible.

The check out involves:

  1. The reading or re-reading of the policy
  2. A spot check on specialized or difficult words for definitions.
  3. Several spot checks on the main points and how they are applied.
  4. An overall check on how the policy is used or applied.

HR will be initially trained on how to do these checkouts by Leo, Robin or Maggie and also should be checked out by one of us on each new policy or revision before checking out the other employees.
