With the advertising that we do, we often have customers calling in to receive our free catalog or ask about what we sell. When a new customer calls in, they should be routed immediately to an available salesperson.
The salesperson is more able to get in touch with the customer and get them in the door. They will also start a relationship with the customer and begin to establish us as being their personal jeweler.
If there is no salesperson available then get all of their information, i.e.;
Route this information to the Sales Manager so he or she can get it to a salesperson to follow up immediately.
New Names should be treated as a “Hot Prospect” unless or until proven otherwise. Time spent on these new customers has a much better chance of paying off than the moth-eaten Submariner customers who have been on our mailing list for years.
ANYONE calling in, even for directions, should be asked for their information so we don’t lose them. (Many times someone has been on their way here and has never arrived.) Just tell them you want to send our free catalog and then take down the address information, including phone numbers and email address.
