Merchandise in Comm Baskets

Previous policy was that no merchandise was to be placed in the Comm Baskets. The reason for this was two-fold, A) It prevented merchandise being left out of the safe overnight and B) With the old wire baskets merchandise could fall through and become lost. The policy solved the above problems but it causes another problem more deadly. When you have to hand a piece of merchandise to an individual, they have to stop what they are doing, hear your story, figure out what to do with the item(s), then figure out what they were working on, then start over. Having to do this just three times a day adds an easy hour to your day. This is a great example of Dev-t.

Here’s how we can solve all the problems. We have a new basket system that items do not fall through. Merchandise can be put in the current comm system without fear of them falling through. The items must be placed in a large locking baggie (the type used for buys). Don’t just throw an item in the basket as it can get lost between papers. Along with the item you should write a dispatch so the individual knows what to do with it.

Each night each individual must check their comm basket before leaving, or when someone yells the safes are being locked. The person locking the safes must check the comm baskets before locking the safes. If items are found the person must write up to Ethics who left items in their basket as it isn’t a minor error.

Following the above can lessen the interruptions we all get daily and make all of us more efficient.

Thanks for your help in this.
