Leo Hamel Policy Letter

Forbidden Words

When working with customers, do not use any words similar to “let me ask my dealer” or “let me check with my vendor.” Saying that to the customer makes us sound like we are not the experts, so why would they come to us to sell if we are not the experts? I know we use the cell phones to send Michel or other dealers/vendors pictures for pricing. However, it can be worded differently to the customer, such as, “Let me take a few pictures and research pricing so that I can pay you the highest possible price.”

You can also say that you are texting a co-worker who is a little more knowledgeable on this item so you can pay the best price.

We absolutely don’t want to give the impression that we are buying it to sell to someone else. Our commercials say, “We want it for our jewelry store.” And we DO want it for our store, if it is sellable.
