“First purchase” is marked on the invoice the first time a customer buys a watch/jewelry from us. It would not be marked any subsequent times. (Even if a customer returns the watch for a credit and gets another watch, the second item would not be marked “first purchase.”)
A deposit is not a first purchase, how can it be a “purchase” when nothing was delivered yet. We previously were counting deposits as first purchases, but this is not the case as it’s not a sale yet.
Repair invoices are not to be marked as first purchases. They are not a purchase.
We are in the business of selling watches and jewelry. The Repair Dept. is a different source of income for the store, but our advertising is directed at selling watches and jewelry. An invoice marked “first purchase” shows us how many new customers we got in for the week that actually purchased something. If we marked repairs as such, it would throw the stat off.
Therefore if you have a new customer paying for a repair, it should not be marked “first purchase.” Only a sale of merchandise counts as a first purchase, not a repair.
