One of the great perks of working for this Company is the opportunity to see and purchase a broad variety of jewelry at excellent prices. Employees are offered the chance to look through our “scrap” silver once a week and select items that they wish to buy for themselves. All rules regarding employee purchases apply; see PL “Employee Purchases” for details.
Remember that this is a privilege and not a right. To maintain an organized process by which this can be accomplished and to reduce the amount interruptions for the Estate Processors, Inventory Manager, and Repair, the following procedures must be observed:
- Scrap can only be looked through on Wednesdays and the person MUST be on their break.
- A signup sheet will go up Tuesday at 5:30 with 4 designated times
- If more than 4 people want to sign up we’ll draw names, just like our regular raffles and those people will get to go that week.
- Only one person at a time will be allowed to go through scrap.
- Scrap must only be looked through in the Inventory room on a tray provided by Inventory or the Estate Processors. This is to prevent loss.
- Follow the silver scrap pricing tutorial in order to figure out what adjusted price will be, and you may also use that guide to figure out your final price. (See “Silver Scrap Pricing Tutorial”) This pricing guide must be followed so that the Estate Processors and Inventory manager aren’t interrupted constantly!
- When your item is priced, put your name on it with the weight and scrap price and put it in the box for the Inventory Manager to give it a stock ID at her convenience. Do not bug the Inventory Manager about creating stock IDs – she has to handle all of her other responsibilities first.
- Once you have your stock ID, write up your CSW and submit it with the item, following the “Employee Purchases” policy procedure.
- Any silver put aside because a decision has not been made to purchase will be put back into the scrap bag at the end of the day Wednesday.
- Once your CSW has been approved and the item paid for, you may route your item through repair if you would like to have it polished and/or other repairs made. Adjusted is much lower on scrap items than on items sold as retail pieces, and as such any repairs/polishing are not covered by it. You will need to write up a new CSW, create a job, and send it through repair and pay for the polishing and any other repairs that need to be done. (See “Employee Purchases” policy for the procedure and pricing on employee repairs.)
- Any violations to this policy will result in a one month suspension from looking through and purchasing scrap.
- Each succeeding violation will result in an additional month’s suspension. (2nd violation will be a 2 month suspension, 3rd will be a 3 month etc.)
