Emails Regarding Policy

Email is a great tool for getting communications quickly to other staff. However email should not be used to paraphrase something already covered in policy and sent out to the “All” or “Sales” or other email group.

Policy is an already proven and effective way of doing something that is set by Leo and is not open to interpretation. An email sent to “All” or some group of employees that is meant to enforce policy can alter what it actually says in the policy just enough to cause confusion.

If a policy is not being followed or is being violated, the correct action is to write up a report to HR stating who specifically is making the error so that person can be corrected.

If you notice something you think is wrong that you do not believe is covered in policy, write up a brief email to the CFO who will either find a policy that applies or will ask Leo to write a policy to cover it.

If you do want to remind everyone of what it says in a particular policy, then write a brief cover email and attach the actual policy for them all to read. Policies are located in K:\Policies and are filed alphabetically by title.
