Customers, Removing from Email List

If a customer asks to be removed from our eblast or email list, DO NOT delete the email out of BM but do the following instead.

  • Find their profile in BM
  • Use the dropdown menu to go to Edit Client Properties and click GO
  • Click on the Emails tab
  • Double check that the email address(es) on file are the ones where they want to stop getting email

If they have more than one email address and would like to receive email to one and not the other:

  • Click on the email address where they do NOT want to get email to open the Email Controller
  • Check the “Do Not Send Email” box
  • Click “Edit” on that tab to save and close
  • Click “Done” on the remaining tab to close

If they would like to stop receiving any email whatsoever to any of their addresses, check the “No Emails” box in the Contact Keys (Classifications).

We do not pull new lists each time an eblast is scheduled to go out, instead the eblast program looks for emails that are checked to remove from the existing list. If you delete the email from the BM record, that does not remove it from the eblast list; it only makes the email address unknown to the eblast program BUT THAT CUSTOMER WILL CONTINUE TO GET EMAILS. By following the steps above, the eblast server can do its job and remove the email addresses from the list that shouldn’t get email.

If you feel that an email address should be completely removed from BM so that no one can ever email the address, you MUST notify IT prior to removing it from BM so that IT can make sure the email address gets manually removed from the eblast server. Once that has been done, IT will remove the email address from BM and keep a log of when that email was removed from the eblast system.
