Credit Card Deposits on Special Orders

When taking credit card deposits on special orders, either in the store or over the phone, make sure the customer knows that we are going to charge their account immediately. If they want to pay some other way once the item is in, we will credit their card when they pick up and pay in full.

Make sure the customer knows this. If they’re in the store, have them sign the charge slip while they’re here. If they called over the phone, mail them a copy of the charge slip.

Crediting back their card would of course not apply if we agree to take their credit card to pay for the sale. In this case we charge their account when the item is ordered, and don’t credit it when they pick it up. You should still give/mail them a copy of the deposit charge slip.
