Checks over $15,000

If you write a check for $15,000 or more, please notify the Controller and CFO as soon as the customer leaves, by email. We have to ensure that the cash flow is available to cover large checks.

If you are going to write a check for $30,000 or more, you must contact the Controller before you issue the check. (S)he needs to know immediately in case money needs to be moved around to cover the check. Do not just send an email; get the Controller on the phone. If the Controller is not available, ask for the CFO.

No one other than the Controller or the CFO can approve large checks, because they are the only ones who know what the available bank balance is and what is already pending to be cashed.
