We see a lot of diamonds of all shapes in sizes in our buying offices. Grading a diamond accurately can be critical to closing a buy customer, especially if the diamond is a carat or larger. A large diamond that is not graded correctly can be thousands of dollars in difference for what we can purchase it for. Therefore, it is vital that buyers are checked periodically for their diamond grading accuracy.
Estate buyers are rotated through the various satellite offices we have around San Diego County, and are typically not scheduled in the Old Town buy office for 5-6 weeks. Because of this, estate buyers scheduled in the Old Town office will do a diamond grading test or re-training with the Wholesale Sales Manager every time they rotate through Old Town. This will be very beneficial to buyers when they are in the satellite offices and have to rely on their grading skills alone to close a buy.
We are seeing a lot of really big diamonds and sometimes you only get one chance to buy these from a customer. If your diamond grading confidence is higher with the more training than you should be able to not miss out on the larger diamond buying opportunities.
