A Quote

I noticed this nice little quote while studying some materials on communication by L. Ron Hubbard and thought it was very applicable to salespeople.

“Desperation enters in only when communication goes out.”

So, if you find yourself becoming “desperate” during a sale, realize that you are not communicating anymore.

Even if you are still saying words, and they are still nodding their heads like a “cud chewing bovine” (cow), realize that you are not communicating and YOU are getting desperate.

Do something! Assume that it is your communication that is faltering NOT THEIRS. It is far easier to change what you are doing than to try to change the customer.

If for whatever reason you cannot get back into communication with the person a turn over would probably be appropriate and you can figure out why you were having trouble later so that the customer gets the help they need now.
